The use of cord blood is determined by the treating physician and is influenced by many factors, including the patient's medical condition, the characteristics of the sample, and whether the cord blood should come from
the patient or an appropriately matched donor.1 Cord blood has established uses in transplant medicine; however, its use in regenerative medicine is still being researched. There is no guarantee that potential medical
applications being studied in the laboratory or clinical trials will become available. Cord tissue use is still in early research stages, and there is no guarantee that treatments using cord tissue will be available in the future.
Cord tissue is stored whole. Additional processing prior to use will be required to extract and prepare any of the multiple cell types from cryopreserved cord tissue.

What do newborn stem cells have to offer?
How does it work?
Umbilical cord blood contains immune-forming hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). You only get one chance to take advantage of these powerful newborn stem cells, and that’s at birth. Once your baby is born, valuable blood will be drawn from the cord. The process is quick, painless, and safe for both mother and baby. Then that blood will be made ready for storage or donation, depending on which you choose.
Find out how to harness
the power of newborn stem cells from cord blood
Be sure to talk to your obstetrician now, about preserving your baby’s newborn stem cells on the big day — to save for your own family, or to donate to another. It’s a decision that could make a big difference for someone you love, or for someone you’ve never even met.
